Almost Nothing
After a very active period in the late 1990s, I chose a different path. Photography was not going to be my profession. It would remain something I did for myself.
But through a sometimes demanding professional life, I kept finding a particular kind of calm behind the camera. Almost like therapy.
A walk alone with a camera could quiet everything else for a while. I would begin to notice the small things. The way a shadow falls across a street. How light touches a building. A tiny detail passed a hundred times, but never truly seen.
Almost nothing.
But if you look, take your time, and pay attention, almost nothing can become something. Something beautiful. Something strange. Sometimes even something disturbing.
These photographs are about that way of seeing. About slowing down long enough to notice what would otherwise disappear into the background.
They are personal to me, but I hope they leave enough space for you to find something of your own in them.
